A new exhibition, ‘Inspirational Objects – Nature as Designer,’ will be on display at the Treasure House, Beverley, 12 February – 9 April.
This touring exhibition by designer Alison Milner and photographer Steve Speller encourages the visitor to view objects that surround us a little differently – challenging us to think about why we like and enjoy something, where it comes from, how it is made, what it is made from, and whether we really need it at all.
Alison Milner is a graduate of the Royal College of Art where she studied furniture design. In recent years, her work has widened to include graphic design and teaching. In 2005 her book ‘Inspirational Objects, a visual dictionary of simple elegant forms’ was published.
Steve Speller has been a professional photographer for 25 years. He has worked for numerous publications and designers. In 2004 he had a solo exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery entitled ‘A Blueprint for Life’, which was a series of portraits of contemporary British designers.
