AFC Tickton U14 Girls took a trip to Aldbrough to play their away game against Hornsea Sporting U14 Girls. The game took place in atrocious conditions but all the players got involved from the first whistle.
Tickton took the initiative and pressed toward goal and were unlucky not to score in the opening exchanges. The deadlock was soon broken when Rachael Wilson broke in from the left and fired a hard shot low into the bottom corner to put the visitors one ahead.
The Hornsea team then knew they were in for a match and began making chances of their own, only to be thwarted by the resolute defending of Rachael Hill, Eleanor Gilbert, Shannon Tong and Laura McCoid. Tickton’s grip on the game increased in the dying moments of the first half when they doubled their lead after Lottie Tuisawau fired in a thunderous volley from 20 yards.
Hornsea started the second half well and the home team chalked up their opener after some good team play resulted in a deserved goal. This spurred Tickton on and another long range shot from Lottie Tuisawau ended up in the back of the Hornsea net to restore the visitor’s two goal advantage. Rachael Wilson then scored again for Tickton to double her tally for the day after some neat build up from the Tickton team.
Hornsea ensured that Tickton would have to keep playing well to claim a win as they scored another goal but the day was wrapped up when a deflected shot from Isobel Clark landed up at Lottie Tuisawau’s feet six yards out. She dispatched the ball into the top corner of the Hornsea goal to finish the day with a well-deserved hat-trick.
