Braves Donate Kit to Help Needy Islanders

A Tongan village rugby league team will proudly bear the name of Beverley on their kits thanks to the generosity of a local team.

Warrington Wolves star Louis Anderson launched an appeal for British clubs to donate any items of kit to needy clubs on the South Sea Island.

The appeal was immediately seized upon by the Beverley Braves, who have sent a full kit to Tonga.

Although it is no longer used by the Braves, the recipients of the kit will be sporting the familiar Indian Chief club emblem in their matches.

Braves’ press officer David Walker said:

“There is the possibility the next generation of Tongan internationals will be familiar with the Beverley Braves without ever setting foot in this country.”
