Beverley Town will not retain the Grays Cup after crashing out to North Cave.
North Cave who beat Hodgsons FC in the previous round found things a lot tougher against Beverley’s number one side.
The match was a sluggish affair with the first real chance falling to Town mid way through the second half.
There was a feel that one goal would be enough to win this encounter and when Cave scored from a set play with just 15 minutes remaining defeat seemed likely.
Town however lifted their game and piled on the pressure, a few key decisions went the way of the home side and the game quickly became a stop start affair with Cave’s goal keeper being booked after he ‘slowly’ took the goal kick.
With time running out Cave were awarded a dubious free kick and from the resulting cross scored a second to seal Town’s fate.
Final Score: North Cave 2 Beverley Town 0
