Beverley Musical Theatre is performing South Pacific at Hull New Theatre from May 11th to 14th nightly from 7.30pm and Saturday shows at 2pm and 7pm.
South Pacific is a much loved Rogers and Hammerstein musical which is set in an island paradise during world war 2. There are 2 love stories running through the show which are both threatened by prejudice and war.
Nellie Forbush is an innocent yet spikey nurse from Arkansas and Joe Cable is a young lieutenant, both fall in love with people from different walks of life and have to battle with their upbringing of prejudism. The story follows the tragedy and happiness which the characters face.
South Pacific is considered to be one of the greatest musicals and with so many popular songs ‘Bali Hai, I’m gonna wash that man’ Happy talk’ ‘Some enchanted evening’ nothing like a dame’ and many more, it’s easy to see why.
With an excellent principle cast and a full lively chorus, the production by Beverley musical Theatre promises to follow in this tradition.
