The hunt is on to find the East Riding’s most green family or resident.
This will be the fourth year running East Riding of Yorkshire Council has run the competition to find its eco ambassadors.
Past winners have been the Osborne family of Driffield (2008), the Miller Smiths of Tunstall, Holderness (2009), and the Bradford family of Beverley (2010).
John Skidmore, head of streetscene services, said: “Previous winners have set a high standard by being shining examples of how to live a green lifestyle.
“They were committed to reducing household waste, managing what was created, and caring for the East Riding’s environment.
“We are looking for the individual or family who can demonstrate a commitment and imaginative approach with activities such as making-do and mending, growing vegetables, reducing and re-using waste, and saving water.
“We would also be interested in hearing of their favourite recipes for using up leftover food and whether they home compost their garden waste.”
The winners will receive £200 worth of vouchers for the ethical superstore to spend on anything from recycled household goods to ethical gifts.
