Tickton Girls Put Seven Past Preston

Tickton Girls turned up to face an AFC Preston side on the back of a comprehensive 3-0 home win last week and began the game in the same determined style that produced their victory.

The Preston side, however, were not going to be brushed aside easily and both teams struggled to get a grip of the game until Izzie Clark ran through the middle of the Preston defence and fired home to put the visitors 1 up. This spurred the

Tickton team into life and a few minutes later some good passing between Izzie Clark and Enisha Ali allowed Lauren Stubbs to run unmarked through the Preston defence to get Tickton’s second goal. Tickton’s third came just before half time when Lottie Tuisawau launched a thirty yard shot which bounced in front of the keeper and ended up in the back of the net.

The second half started with more pressing by the Tickton forwards and they soon capitalised on their hard work when Lauren Stubbs once again lost her marker to fire home.

The Tickton team then created wave after wave of pressure and the solid work of Rachel Wilson and Lucie Hall in midfield added to more resolute defending by Laura McCoid, Eleanor Gilbert, Rachael Hill and Shannon Tong ensured that the Preston forwards were effectively marshalled out of the game. Tickton’s pressure soon resulted in more goals as Lauren Stubbs claimed two more either side of

Izzie Clark’s second of the game to finish the match at AFC Preston 0- 7 Tickton Under 14 Girls. Tickton could have made it 8 but Enisha Ali’s tap in was ruled out for offside which was unfortunate given her impressive performance.
