Blue & Golds Are Utterly Outclassed

As the massive 80-0 scoreline suggests, this game was one-way traffic with Beverley being totally outclassed by a powerful Duke of York side.

The runaway leaders of the division, whose side contained several ex professionals, were far too strong for Beverley.

The Blue and Golds had only 14 fit players for the game due to injuries, work commitments and a myriad of other reasons.

And to add insult to injury, they had to play the whole of the second half with 12 men due to injuries to Mike Cooper and a potentially serious injury to Gavin Proctor, with an ambulance arriving just before the break.

The entire game was something of a damage limitation exercise, but Ian Pollard and man-of-the-match Aaron Horsfield were the standout performers for the home, side never taking a backward step against a physically intimidating opposition.

Secretary Keith Deyes said afterwards: “This side is clearly playing in the wrong division – matches like this do nothing for the game of rugby league.”

What does he want us to do? This is our first season, we had to start in this division. Warrington beat Harlequins by a scoreline like this last week, teams have good and bad weeks.
