Shrinking advertising revenues at two of the country’s leading regional newspaper groups could have an impact on Beverley.
Northcliffe Media, who own titles like the Hull Daily Mail and the Beverley Advertiser, have announced a drop in advertising revenues of 12 per cent in their second quarter, compared to last year.
According to financial website’s Northcliffe, owned by Daily Mail General Trust (DMGT), is considering options for the business which could see them consolidate their business with fellow publishing groups Johnston Press and Trinity Mirror.
This could have a major impact on the newspapers that cover Beverley. Johnston Press own the Beverley Guardian, considered the town’s premium weekly newspaper, and according to reports on leading financial website Sharecast.com they too are suffering huge drops in advertising revenue.
It could lead to Johnston and Northcliffe pooling their resources, which could possibly lead to jobs being shed, as well as just one weekly paper in the town.
Reports also indicate that high-level restructuring is already under-way across Northcliffe, with at least one very senior member of staff being forced out as the company attempts to cut costs.

Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) reported 332 consumer media job losses for the three months to 2 January, mainly across Northcliffe Media, which includes about 100 regional titles. – Source The Independent – DMGT cuts 8 per cent of regional staff
The Dull Daily Fail struggling?? Shame.
Yeah, gutted. Serves them right for failing everyone. But like the Murphy’s, I ain’t bitter
I’m not surprised that the Beverley Guardian is suffering a loss of revenue. The standard of journalism seems sloppy with many spelling and grammatical errors. For instance, a headline on page 22 of today’s Guardian reads “League leaders fight back to defat tiring Braves”. What does defat mean?
Ha ha ha
GOOD! might put an end to all the bullshit local propaganda they spout out of their arseholes on a weekly basis.
Numerous area’s in Beverley are NOT receiving the weekly Beverley Advertiser. Feedback on the Beverley Facebook page reflects this. I am trying to locate a direct distribution Beverley contact to try to resolve this annoying and ongoing problem. Many thanks.
