Tribfest to Generate £1m to the East Riding Community

The 5th Tribfest music festival is on course to generate £1million to the East Riding economy during August. The event has grown over the past five years from its launch in Driffield in 2007 and this year’s event is on course to sell out with 5,000 festival fans coming to Beverley and create a big boost to the local economy.

The average spend of each person attending the event is £200 through ticket sales, petrol, camping food, fast food purchases within the arena, alcohol sales, market stalls, and even camping gear for the festival itself.

80% of the festival goers are from within a 20 mile radius of Beverley and 10% come from within 40 miles of the event.

Not only is the money generated locally to attend the event but the team putting the event together are all from the local community. Event Director Ed Faulkner is from Hull and he has developed a strong local team to create of event managers, sound crew, lighting and stage crew. The Festival is put together by local expertise and everything from portaloos to marquees hired in locally wherever possible.

The Event is self financed through ticket sales and the support of sponsorship from the local business community.

This year’s event is held at the Beverley Polo Club at Tickton over the weekend of August 19th-21st and is on course for a sell out. The event features 20 professional tribute acts, a comedy marquee, tents for both folk and unsigned local acts, the silent disco and the Tribbyaoke experience where festival  goer’s can sing along with a backing band.

Tribfest 2011 will includes tributes to stars such as  Elton John; Take That, The Prodigy, Madness, Kings of Leon, Abba, Lady Ga Ga and Bon Jovi.  The VIP package also offers an opportunity for fans to access a further 25 acts in the VIP Stage and additional facilities at the festival.

Ed Faulkner is very proud of the growth of the festival “Tribfest began with the idea of creating a budget version of Glastonbury which could be enjoyed by all the family. This has been a bit of a roller coaster for me over the past five years and Tribfest could not have developed without the support of friends, local expertise, and hundred of volunteers. The festival would not be where it is without the support of the local community and sheer hard work and the support of my team and sponsors we now believe we have created a festival of national renown thus drawing people to Beverley from all corners of the UK.

“East Yorkshire Events are extremely pleased to have supported Tribfest from the very beginning and witnessed it develop into one of the stand out events of the year. The growth of this unique music festival now generates upwards of £1M and has been a massive boost for the East Riding economy, it also really showcases to thousands of visitors every year what the area has to offer.”  Paul Roggeman
Conference & Events Manager, East Yorkshire Events
