Golden Heart Commendation for Longcroft Pupils

Pupils at Longcroft School and Performing Arts College joined forces with the Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust in a project entitled ‘Healthi’, a work that was commended at the annual NHS Golden Heart ceremony at the KC Stadium on Thursday night.

The students from the Creative and Media Diploma group were busy preparing for their latest production when they got a surprise visit from Anne Burdiss and Patrick Appleyard from the NHS.  They generously handed over the certificate they received at the ceremony for Longcroft School to keep.

The project involved the interviewing and filming of several key workers within the local NHS.  It culminated in the production of a DVD made by the students which will be used by the NHS as part of its educational outreach and training work.

Jonathan Chapman, Assistant Headteacher and Director of the Performing Arts at Longcroft said “The project was a challenge and had to be carefully planned by the students. They had to be well prepared and work together rather like a professional company. The end product was marvellous and reflected the hard work of staff and students”

The certificate states that healthi 2010: Career Profiles in Partnership with Longcroft School was a Finalist in the 2011 Golden Hearts Awards on the ‘Outstanding Partnership Working’ Category.
