Beverley Town Cricket Club found the going tough on another sun-baked day at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
Sunday’s friendly opponents were another team from the Central Yorkshire League in Castleford CC, who fielded a strong side against a slightly weakened home team.
Batting first, Cas piled on the runs, reaching 233 from their 40 overs, a total that always looked to be beyond Beverley.
Facing a new ball attack that boasted Richie Bresnan, the brother of England and Yorkshire Test all-rounder Tim, Beverley were always out of the hunt, but several other first-team contenders got a bat and blew out some of the winter’s cobwebs.
Cas brought a decent contingent of travelling support with them, including Bresnan’s mum and dad.
They seemed to thoroughly enjoy their trip to Beverley and HU17.net spent a pleasant half hour in their company.
