Town Beaten by Strugglers Malet Lambert YC

Beverley Town were well beaten this week in the Humber Premier League by Malet Lambert.

Town who have enjoyed a spell of form in recent times played well though were just unable to score as they crashed to a three nil defeat.

Beverley Town just couldn’t get into this game, although they played the better football at times, they never found a way to break through a well organised Malet Lambert defence. It’s a shame Beverley’s defence hadn’t taken note, as two defensive errors gifted Malet Lambert their first two goals before half time

Beverley started the second half brightly pushing the ball out to the wings every chance they could, but as in the first half the final ball was never good enough to trouble the home defence. Even from set pieces and corner kicks they never managed to get a shot or header on target to test the goal keeper. A defensive error, with two Town players leaving the ball to each other, allowed Malet Lambert striker to slot the ball home and go three nil up. It’s a game that Beverley Town will want to forget.

The result leaves Town sixth in the table with forty points, twenty behind the league leaders Sculcoates Amateurs. Town will hit the road again this week as they travel to face second placed Ricketts AFC on Tuesday night.
