Fisher: Ton At Home Ground Was Something Special

Beverley Town CC centurion Jon Fisher admitted it was “special” to score his first senior ton at his home ground on Saturday.

Fisher was in total command as he piled up a magnificent 111 in the 174-run defeat of Goole Town at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

He took advantage of anything short and wide to carve boundaries behind square on the offside, and made the Goole bowlers rue the moment they strayed on to his pads.

It was Fisher’s second century for Beverley Town Cricket Club 1st XI, following on from his unbeaten 127 at Fenner last season, but his first at home, and he believes the signs are promising for a successful season for his side.

He told HU17.net: “It’s the best possible start to the season both for me individually and the team as a whole and it felt great to get a ton on our home ground, which makes it more special.

“It was a clinical performance by the team and I think if we carry on our approach of positive cricket then the team should be in a very good position at the end of the season.”
