For those that don’t know me I am married to Janet and I have one son Alex. I am the youngest of six children and have lived and worked locally all my life. I was educated at St Mary’s and then Longcroft School, my further education took place at the East Riding College as an apprentice mechanic. I have subsequently returned to East Riding College three times to study engineering and then health and safety. I currently work at The Defence School of Transport in the REME Workshop as Quality Assurance Manager.
I have been a Town Councillor for the last four years and in 2009 was the Mayor of Beverley. I conceived the original idea of holding an Armed Forces Day and am currently working on a programme of more free entertainment for the Town at our 3rd Armed Forces Day. This is scheduled to take place on Sunday 3rd July.
I have worked with many charities during this time and organised among other things a Christmas Carol Concert with two of our local schools and a Military Band at St Mary’s Church.
I am very proud to have been selected to stand in this ward and be given a chance to work with and for the residents there. I believe it is important that if elected we should work together and look at what services and facilities we have in the ward, what we need to maintain and where we may need to seek improvements.
Minster and Woodmansey is an area where great changes are planned I hope working together with the residents we can see great improvements in the not too distant future. At the same time we also need to work together to preserve the heritage and unique character of our great Town. This I know is something that continues to draw people here and is also something we are all very proud.
I look forward to working on any and all issues that affect residents and will be canvassing residents to ask what matters to them, what they feel is important in their lives and that of their families, their children, friends and neighbours.
