Rangers Beaten in Cup Final by Treble Chasers Dunnington

Molescroft Rangers were beaten in the Junior County Cup Final by Dunnington Reserves 2 – 1 at Pocklington.

Rangers lost their goalkeeper, Paul Bryce, within the opening ten minutes of the match after he needed to leave the field after sustaining an injury.

When the game resumed it was Dunnington who dominated play as they went on to lift the East Riding Junior Country Cup.

About Dunnington – In its 1st season under the management of Trace Briggs (previously Dunnington U19’s Manager), the team has seen success in its first York Reserve A league campaign, securing the title with games to spare.

The team have developed a great bond over the season and have gelled well under the leadership of an experienced Dunnington Player & Captain John Gilham. Experienced players such as Tony Downing, Paul Fowler, Grant Tolworthy, Kent Mayall, Mike Noble & Andy Rose, have been involved both on and off the pitch this season, passing on experiences and knowledge to those coming through the ranks.

The Reserve team have shown this season that with the right combination of wise heads, willing young lads and manager determination that they can push themselves to achieve anything. Many of the players representing Dunnington tonight have experience on the big stage in ERCFA Finals.

Dunnington have the potential to seal a trio of trophies this season, The Reserve cup, League Title & ERCFA Junior Country Cup.
