Rangers Hang On For Home Win Against Marist

It was Marist that started the game on top and had two or three really good chances to take an early lead.

But those early misses proved costly when a 25 yard strike hit the back of the net to put Molescroft Rangers one goal up, and things got even better as Molescroft went two up soon after with another good finish. This was hard on Marist who had passed the ball around well at times but with no reward.

It wasn’t long into the second half when Marist Rovers grabbed one goal back. Though Molescroft was under a lot of pressure they never stopped trying to get the ball to their forwards as quickly as they could.

Half way through the second half Molescroft were awarded a penalty when Marist goal keeper shoved the oncoming player to the floor with the ball seemingly going out for a goal kick,  the referee pointed to the spot and Molescroft went three one up.

Marist did get another goal to set up a tense finish but in the end Molescroft hung on and in the end it was Molescroft Reserves who managed to grab all three points against a hard working Marist Rovers.
