Police in Beverley are appealing for witnesses following an incident which occurred on Monday 02 May 2011 on Victoria Road.
At around 1845hrs a 15-year-old boy was walking with friends along Victoria Road, adjacent to the Morrisons supermarket, when he felt a sharp pain to the back of his head. He then fell to the floor and realised his head was bleeding.
The boy was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where doctors discovered a pellet from an air gun was lodged in his skull.
It is believed the boy was shot at from behind using an air weapon of some description.
The boy has since had an operation to remove the pellet, and detectives investigating the incident are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have further information, to come forward to assist them with their inquiries.
Clearly air weapons can be lethal and on this occasion the injured boy was fortunate to have escaped more serious injury.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Humberside Police on 0845 60 60 222 quoting 578 of 2 May 2011.
