It was a beautiful sunny day for last weekend’s Keswick half-marathon and Beverley Athletic Club’s Steve Evins thoroughly enjoyed the scenic race.
Despite running the London Marathon only two weeks before, Evins put in a strong performance on the challenging course in the Lake District.
The first six miles through the Newland Valley were particularly hilly and the second half of the race took runners on the undulating road around Derwentwater to the finish at Keswick Rugby Club.
Evins found the first half of the race tough but was able to increase his pace towards the end after conquering the steepest hills. He finished in 1:40:55 in a very respectable 131st place out of 694 runners.
The race was won by Steve Littler of Wesham RR in 1:13:18.
