Aquarian Spirit Leads Betting In Beverley Races’ Showpiece Race

Aquarian Spirit is leading the betting today in Beverley’s big race of today, the Happy 65th Birthday Graham Roberts Handicap.

Racing gets under way at the Westwood racecourse at 2pm on a six race card and a good crowd is expected on what should be a fine, warm day.

The biggest race, the Happy 65th Birthday Graham Roberts Handicap, starts at 4pm and is over one mile and a furlong.

In a competitive field, early markets show Paul Hanagan’s mount Aquarian Spirit, trained by course regular Richard Fahey, is attracting a lot of attention and is expected to go off at 2-1 or less.

There is also a lot of support early today for Cheers For Thea, written by Lance Betts for Tim Easterby. Currently at 14-1, it is one of the meeting’s best bets.

Perhaps the race of the day, however, is the 2.30, the Fantastic Prizes At Lucky In Love Selling Stakes over the five furlong sprint.

Johnny Hancocks, ridden by Tom Eaves, has the prime draw on the rail and is currently going at 7-4. Clipthorne, drawn in gate seven, is second favourite at 5-2.
