Braves Beaten In Competitive Match

The Beverley Braves under 9’s went down to only their second defeat of the season to Myton Warriors in a game that was highly competitive with the result in doubt right up to the final whistle.

Defences were on top throughout the game and this was reflected in the man of the match award going to Joseph Denis for several copy book tackles and some great breaks. In fact several players had one of their best games for the Braves including Matthew Hutchinson and Dylan English.

Myton opened the scoring on the first set of six, but passing along the line from Marcus Walker and Ethan Rowbotham created the space for William Wallis to score the first of his three tries on the night.

Wallis was on hand again to make it 2-1 after Thomas Cohen and Oliver Gresswell had helped create the field position. Myton replied with a second score just before the break to make it 2 all at half-time.

Myton started the second half strongly but the Braves defence held firm with Oliver Loney once again in the thick of the defensive action and Tom Marr and Will Sandford pulling off some important tackles.

It was Wallis who broke clear from his own line to race the full length of the field to make it 3-2 but with the Warriors not prepared to give up they were soon level at 3all.

With Bradley Loftus distributing well at acting half-back the Braves were on the score sheet again after Walker dummied to open the gap and race in. Two quick scores from Myton changed the face of the game to make the score 5-4 and the Braves were back on the attack as the whistle blew. A great game played by two committed sides.
