Eyesite Opticians Test Vision Of Future Tigers Stars

Beverley-based opticians Eyesite is playing a major role in ensuring the next generation of Hull City stars are more prepared than ever for the rigours of top-level sport.

Eyesite, who have branches in Cottingham and Hedon as well as at 13a Saturday Market, have teamed up with the Tigers to provide the latest in eye-testing techniques to their players.

Senior players have already undergone rigorous tests to ensure their vision is at the best level possible out on the pitch, and the latest beneficiaries of this testing were members of Hull City’s Centre of Excellence.

Under 14s, under 15s and under 16s had their eyesite tested, which is just another aspect of the off-the-pitch preparations used by Hull City.

Alistair Benson, development manager for Eyesite Opticians and a former Tiger himself, emphasised the benefits of good eye-testing to players.

He said: “I had some fantastic training during my time at the Hull City, but eye testing a few years back wasn’t usually implemented into a footballers’ training schedule. I actually needed to wear contact lenses but wasn’t really aware of this until later down the line.

“Today’s footballers see every aspect of their technical, physical and mental ability scrutinized and having optimal eyesite is, therefore, very important.

“For example, you could have the best technique in the world, but if you can’t see the ball well enough …”
