Outgoing Beverley Mayor Bessie Foot performed her final duties at the Guildhall on Monday.
Bessie has been a thoroughly popular choice of Mayor, and her hard work paid dividends for her chosen charities.
As part of her final duties as the Mayor of Beverley, Bessie handed out some final community awards before calling forward representatives of her chosen charities, the Marie Curie Cancer Trust and The Beverley Church Lads and Girls Brigades, who were each presented with cheques for just over £2,000.
Then followed the Mayor-making ceremony for the new Mayor of Beverley, where Labour’s Peter Astell, of Minster North Ward, was named as Mayor for the forthcoming year.

Just checking: Is that the Mayor of “Beverley” or of “Toy Town”?
I’ve been to Legoland much better than Toy Town
Best picture I have ever taken – captures the moment really well 🙂 Going to miss Bessie.
Tell me again Paul, which one is Bessie?
