Hodgsons FC Reserves lost out on cup glory as they were beaten in the League Cup Final 3 – 1 by Eastella Rangers.
The Tanners started well, although they soon found themselves two goals down much to the disappointment of their supporters who had travelled to the Queensgate for the game.
With half time approaching Hodgsons FC got themselves back into the game when Rob Whiting scored a sweet free-kick from 20 yards out.
As the second half opened, Hodgsons FC started the stronger of the two sides although Eastella were awarded a hotly-contested penalty.
Tanners’ keeper Vinnie Fleming had a chance to make a name for himself but despite guessing correctly and diving to his right the shot was too hot to handle and it slipped through his fingers into the net.
Hodgsons piled on the pressure but the Eastella keeper was in good form and proved a difficult barrier to breach.
The Tanners were thrown a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty late in the game. However, Rob Whiting’s spot-kick was saved ending any real chance of Hodgsons FC winning the cup.
