‘Being There’ Paintings & Drawings by Barry and Jill Carter

A new exhibition of works by well-known, Cottingham-based artists, Barry and Jill Carter, will be on display at Beverley Art Gallery this summer.

Barry and Jill have exhibited widely in the North of England for many years, in both solo and group shows.

Barry is inspired by coastal locations, especially Bridlington, Flamborough and Staithes.  The inland waterways and boatyards of North Lincolnshire are also favourite locations.

Jill favours domestic interiors, the ‘unremarkable’ corners of the Edwardian house, in Cottingham, where she has lived for 40 years, or the East Riding pubs and music venues where jazz musicians perform.

‘Being There’ brings together recent works inspired by the places and spaces that are close to their hearts.

On Saturday, 28 May the Gallery will be hosting an Open Afternoon for the exhibition, from 12.30-2pm, and visitors can meet the artists and gallery staff.

The Gallery is situated in the Treasure House building on Champney road, a five minute walk from the town centre.

The exhibition runs from Saturday, 28 May to Saturday, 16 July. For visitor information, call (01482) 392780.
