Outstanding Beverley Nursery Extends Hours

An “outstanding” Beverley nursery school is to offer parents more choice by extending their hours and offering full days.

From September, parents of children aged between three and five who are entitled to 15 hours a week of free nursery education, will be able to take advantage of breakfast, lunch and evening sessions at Beverley Manor Nursery School.

The nursery currently offers morning sessions from 9am-12noon and afternoon sessions from 12.45pm-3.45pm, with parents having to pick their child up at the end of each session. But from September, parents will be able to choose full days and drop their children off at 8am and pick up at 5.15pm.

There will be a charge for the extra sessions, with the breakfast sessions offering children a choice of cereal, toast and fruit, at lunch time, freshly prepared healthy meals will be offered while a snack will be provided in the evening.

Yvonne Norvock, head teacher at Beverley Manor Road Nursery School, which had an outstanding Ofsted report and has been described by the local authority as an exemplary school for continued excellence, said she was pleased to be able to offer the full days to meet the differing needs of children and their families.

She also added places at the nursery were not just limited to children from Beverley but from across East Yorkshire.

Mrs Norvock said: “At the moment, parents must pick their children up at the end of the morning or afternoon session which is not really practical for those parents who work.

“By offering the paid-for sessions, over and above the 15 hours entitlement, we are opening up the nursery to people who would maybe not have considered us before.

“Children who stay for the extra time will still be getting the benefit of the nursery curriculum which will be delivered by our team of highly trained and experienced teachers and nursery nurses.”
