Take The Festival Train to Beverley

It won’t have escaped your notice that Beverley Folk Festival starts today Friday. (June 17 – 19) But you may not know that if you travel to the event by train you can get 10% off festival tickets for next year.

This money-saving offer forms part of an agreement with Northern Rail in support of the festival policy of promoting issues of sustainability and the environment.

All you have to do is show your rail ticket at the Information Desk / Box Office on arrival this year and you’ll be given a letter and promotional code which will enable you to claim your discount whenever you book for the 2012 festival.

“We’re trying to reduce the carbon footprint of the festival and those attending,” explains Artistic Director, Chris Wade, “and the partnership with Northern Rail marks a major step forward in encouraging people to leave their cars at home.”

“The festival is already developing its recycling policy and this year aims to ensure that festival food on offer is both organic and locally sourced.” Chris added.

For their part, Northern Rail is helping promote the festival through leaflets on railway stations in the region, publicity via their website and magazine, and an e-newsletter to all their staff.

This year’s festival attractions include ex-Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics frontman Paul Carrack with his new band, the return to her folk roots of chart-topping singer and award-winning actress Barbara Dickson and 5 time winners of the best live act title at the BBC Folk Awards, Bellowhead.
