Body Found That of Missing Man David Huitson

Humberside Police searching for a missing 62 year old Pocklington man, found the body of a man in woodland north of Kilnwick Percy during the evening of Friday 17th June.

The body has sadly been formally identified as that of missing man David Huitson.

Mr Huitson, of Springfield Road in Pocklington, was reported missing to police at approximately 1900hrs on Monday 13 June when he left the address to go for a walk at around 1430hrs that day and did not return home.

Swaledale Mountain Rescue assisted police in the search for Mr HUITSON in searching the fields around Wheatland Close before moving onto farmland near Burnby Lane, Pocklington.

The community are also supporting specialist police officers by volunteering to assist in other areas around the town.

Detective Inspector Tony Cockerill who was the senior officer that led the search over the last four days said:

“This had been a long and difficult search that has been painstakingly undertaken by large numbers of police officers and volunteers from the local community and other supporting agencies.

“Sadly Mr Huitson has not been found alive, but I would like to offer thanks to those who have supported the search and the Huitson family.

“The family have been moved by the public support for them and are currently been supported by trained officers”.

Sgt Peter Rogers of the Pocklington and Wolds Weighton Neighbourhood Policing Team Policing team said:

“The people of the Pocklington area have been absolutely fantastic in the help that they have given to both the Police and the Huitson family during the course of this extensive investigation.

“We would like to thank the volunteer groups, those who circulated posters, those who assisted in the searches or offered accommodation, and everyone who provided information and offered help in the hope that we would locate David safely.

“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“We are very sad that he was ultimately not found alive and our condolences go out to the Huitson family.”

The Huitson family have expressed their personal thanks to everyone who helped in the search for David over the past few days and for the support provided to them. It has been very much appreciated by them .
