New Vice-Principal Looks Forward to Future Challenges

Andrew Wren has now taken up the post of Vice Principal, Curriculum and Quality, at East Riding College following the retirement of predecessor Sue Tuckey.

Andrew, previously the College’s director of employer engagement and marketing secured the position after the post was advertised nationally with a large number of applicants from across the country.

Andrew said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to build on the excellent work Sue has done in seven years as Vice Principal and driving forward the College’s curriculum and quality developments.

“The excellent inspection report by Ofsted in February shows that East Riding College is in a very strong position to continue to improve the high standard of provision to learners and I look forward to meeting this challenge with colleagues throughout the College.”

Andrew was appointed as director of employer engagement and marketing in 2008, previously working for Hull College.

Originally from Lancashire, he moved to Hull in 1989 to attend university and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages, having spent a year studying at Linköping University in Sweden.

Andrew worked for more than 10 years in hospitality, hotel and retail management, before entering into the further education sector in 2002.

He gained a PGCE (FE) at Hudderfield University in 2004 and went on to achieve a post-graduate Diploma in Management through the Chartered Management Institute.
