For the first time in thirty years the children of Toll Gavel United Church Pre-School Playgroup can- at last- play outside all thanks to the installation of a brand new outside play area, generously funded by Toll Gavel United Church and the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
The new special architect-designed play area, which was opened officially this week after receiving the full approval Ofsted and final assessment by the East Riding of Yorkshire Education Department, can comfortably accommodate the Playgroup’s full register of 24 children along with the staff, and allows access for a number of outdoor resources in a safe and secure environment.
Fully enclosed and designed with safety in mind, the new all-weather environment features exciting, stimulating swirls of colourful, low impact, child-friendly surfaces underfoot, and is planned to be used year- round by the children – weather permitting, of course!
The Playgroup has also amassed 5,000 Tesco School Vouchers, the credits for which are now planned to be used in part, to purchase equipment for the new play area.
Sheila Mason, Playgroup Manager, says “Our new outside play area is a most welcome addition to the overall Playgroup facilities. It now gives us an exciting and stimulating extension to our children’s play and one which is sure to further enhance learning and development for years to come”.
