Residents and visitors to Bridlington can enjoy a feast of free sport activities on Sunday, 24 July as the Open Weekend 2011 Beach Sports Festival takes place on the south beach.
The festival, organised by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Sport and Play Development Service, will includes fun family activities as well as beach soccer, High 5 netball, cricket and three-versus-three basketball tournaments.
Events get underway from 11am in the area beneath the Bridlington Park and Ride service on south beach and finish at 3pm each day.
Paul Silvester, community sports coach coastal for the East Riding Sport and Play Development Service, believes this year’s event will be a big success.
He said: “Last year’s festival was fantastic with the sun shining and plenty of people on the beach enjoying the various activities and we hope this year will be even bigger and better.
“The festival is open to anyone who fancies a day out at the beach with their family or friends and we encourage people to come along, bring a picnic and the sunscreen and watch the festival unfold or even join in.”
