Hull FC threw away a ten point half-time league as they crashed out of the Challenge Cup at home to Leeds Rhinos.
Tries from Jordan Turner (2) and Sam Obst had seen Hull open up a 16-6 half time lead to give new owner Adam Pearson hope of a trip to Wembley.
But the Rhinos, so often Hull’s nemesis, turned things round in spectacular fashion spearheaded by tries from Carl Ablett, Ali Lauitiiti and Brett Delaney.
Joe Westerman brought Hull some hope, but late tries from Ablett again and Ben Jones-Bishop led Leeds to an eventual 38-22.
In front of the TV cameras and a big crowd, Hull had hoped to make up for last week’s dismal nilling at Headingley Carnegie.
But the second-half battering only served to ramp up the pressure on coach Richard Agar, who will surely be in the firing line now Pearson is in charge.
