Hodgsons FC begin life in the Humber Premier League on August 20th with a home tie against 6 times HPL winners Reckitts AFC.
Fixtures don’t come much tougher than this, but manager Lee Hastings is confident his side can compete in the new season.
“In a sense this forthcoming season is a no loser. Some people are expecting us to lose more than we’ll win, and others have said we’ll take a good hammering!”
“There is no pressure on us whatsoever.”
“I have made several new signings. Goal-keeper Dom McMahon (Howden AFC), Midfielder – Ben Thomson (Hall Road Rangers) and Central Defender – Sam Overton (Beverley Town). All of these players have added tremendous strength and depth to the squad.”
“There is a buzz about the camp, and pre-season has gone particularly well.”
Pre-Season Results so far…..
Hodgsons FC 4-1 Hessle Sporting Club (Humber One) (A Foster 2, S Gibson, D Cartwright).
Lord Nelson (County League One) 1-6 Hodgsons FC (C Muirhead, J Dexter 2, B Daniels, B Thomson, P Silvester).
Appleby Frodingham (NCEL) 2-2 Hodgsons FC (A Stott).
The Tanners have never finished below 4th place since forming in 2004/2005 and last season’s Humber One title win gave them back to back titles.
Asked if it was at all possible to make it 3 in a row Hastings said;
“Anything is possible, but there is no doubting that this will be our toughest season to date.”
