The Humber Colts beat claimed bragging rights with a 3 – 1 home win over the Eager Beaver in tonights local derby.
The Colts took lead through Daniel Atkinson before Jordon Dexter added a second to give the home side a two goal advantage at half time.
In the second half a cracking shot from Colts Ben Thompson hit the underside of the bar and hit the back of the net to all but seal the game.
The Eager Beaver did get a late consolation after a creative build up that Andy Brown finished off in style.
Eager Beaver player manager Phillip Matthews speaking after the match said;
“The conditions favoured the Colts style of play; this along with the home advantage was a big factor in today’s result.”
“We should have scored another goal and the match was a lot closer then score line suggests.”
Rob Hunter Chairman off the Humber Colts said;
“The Humber Colts entertained the Eager Beaver who reside in the ‘posh’ estate from over the road.”
“After all their talk this afternoon and on Facebook and Twitter they were sent back to ‘toy town’ village with their tail between their legs.”
Colts keeper Luke Coxon told HU17.net;
“I thought it was a decent run out for us.”
“We certainly expected the Eager Beaver would of given us a bit more of a game, obviously we was wrong.”
“That win has certainly boosted our confidence and I think we are ready to make our mark on Wyke Division 2 this season.”
Next up for the Humber Colts is another friendly this Sunday where they will look to maintain their unbeaten run.
Though the opponents are yet to be confirmed Hunter ruled out a match against either The Lord Nelson or their arch rivals and the last side to beat the Colts Inter Beaver.
