Lee Hastings: I Want to Finish Above Beverley Town

Hodgsons FC will continue their pre season with yet another tough fixture as they face East Riding Amateur Division One league champions Queens County AFC.

Tanners manager Lee Hastings has once again set up a fixture that will see his side play team who compete at much high level.

Hastings, speaking exclusively with HU17.net on the eve of the game said;

“I believe in setting the bar high.”

“We have come through some tough pre-season games. I’m hoping that this will set us up nicely for our first season in the Humber Premier League.”

“You don’t always get a lot from playing lesser teams. That’s no disrespect to them.”

“But there is not satisfaction putting 8, 9 or 10 goals past a team.”

“We played Lord Nelson early on, and won 6-1. To be honest it could have been double.”

“To be the best you have to compete and play against the best or better.”

Hastings has been delighted with the performance and form shown by his players paying special praise to long serving Danny Piwinski he said;

“Defensively Danny Piwinski has been very consistent throughout the pre season and without question has shown he can handle the step up this year.”

“Piwinski continues to take on each challenge thrown at him, head on. His distribution has improved and with a stern pre-season, ‘Poo’ is looking sharp.”

Luke Coxon will pull on the Tanners number one shirt for the fifth time with Hastings saying ‘Luke has been a massive help to us’ Dom McMahon the new goalkeeper should be available next sat after recovering from a broken wrist.

The man of the moment for Hodgsons FC has been Andrew Stott. He has been producing a string of fine performances, scoring and setting up goals.

Hodgsons FC are likely to line up 4-5-1 formation as Hastings starts to work out his best side in time for the start of the new season.

Today’s game will be a real test for the side that has won back to back titles and promotions.

Hastings is determined if nothing else then by the end of the 2011 – 2012 season, Hodgsons FC finish above Beverley Town and are officially Beverley best football team.

He said;

“I want to finish above Beverley Town, so do my players. Town have been too long the highest placed Beverley team……it’s all about to change.”
