Barrat’s Bees Put Down Roots

Barrat’s ‘little bees’ in Beverley are seeing their hard work pay off as professional landscapers have now completed the bee friendly gardens they designed ready for summer.

Barratt Yorkshire East commissioned Vertech Plants to deliver a garden which was specifically designed to support the development of the bee population as part of its Save the Bee project which is taking place across the region.

Pupils at Tickton C of E Primary School and Keldmarsh Primary School have helped pick specific plants that attract and sustain bees including Catmint, Honeysuckle, Lavender, Sunflowers and various kinds of herbs.

This regional project is part of a long-standing commitment from the Barratt Group which is designed to boost key environmental causes through a host of exciting and diverse activities nationwide.

Paul Hogan, Sales Director for Barratt Yorkshire East said; “It is amazing achievement to have reached the stage where we are planting gardens specifically designed to help sustain the future of our bees. As vital pollinators in the food chain Bees are something we all need to care about and the children have been fantastic at designing gardens, researching the plants required and getting generally stuck into the project.

“We are delighted by how well the project has gone so far and we are extremely excited to come back later in the summer to see how the gardens have matured and how much bee activity has increased.”
