The biggest and best Tribfest music festival returns to Beverley over the weekend of August 19th -21st. Up to 5000 fans are expected at the 5th festival being held at the Beverley Polo Club at Tickton and this year’s festival includes 21 top tribute acts and also includes additional stages for Folk acts, unsigned bands from across Britain and the Laughing Cow Comedy festival.
The main focus of the festival remains top tribute acts and this year’s line up is the best one to date with 21 acts performing across the weekend. Festival favourites such as Badness, Jilted Generation Kazabian, Black Eyed Peaz and Antarctic Monkeys are joined by a wide range of newcomers including tributes to Elton John, Abba, The Clash, Bon Jovi, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lady Ga Ga and Mettallica.and the Saturday night headliners are Back for Good the countries leading Take That tribute.
This year also sees the appearance of three International bands. The reputation of the festival has grown so much that bands from all over Europe have wanted to play at the event and a Russian Eric Clapton will be appearing on Friday evening and also appearing on the VIP Marque are a Cure Tribute from Italy and a Hungarian Nirvana tribute.
The growth of the festival does mean a constant review of the festival site and the layout of the campsite has been revised to cope with increased number and festival goers will be unable to bring their cars onto the campsite. Fans will need to bring their tents from the car park this year but luggage trolleys are available and to ease congestion campers can also set up on Thursday afternoon if desired.
More and more people are taking the advantages of the VIP package. This offers the opportunity to see a further 25 tribute acts within the VIP Marquee including Madonna, Pet Shop Boys, Meatloaf, Queen, The Police, Erasure, Nirvana, David Bowie and Guns and Roses. The VIP package also offers the opportunity of glamping (glamorous camping) at Tribfest, through heated seating areas, hog roasts, Jacuzzis and separate bars.
Tribfest is predominantly a festival of tribute acts but it is also a great opportunity to enjoy a range of music and comedy. The Laughing Cow Comedy Marquee provides an opportunity to check out 20 of the top up and coming comedians in a line up created by John Marshall of the comedy Buzz club. The Unsigned bands line up features bands from all over Britain who are courting record company attention whilst the Folk/Unsigned tent offers a wide range of folk and acoustic music. The Freedom Road Collective Acoustic Marquee is also a new concept to Tribfest in 2011. Set up with the idea of promoting the young talent in the region, the marquee will feature all under 18’s performing covers and original material in acoustic format.
Event Director Ed Faulkner is excited about this year’s festival “Each year Tribfest is becoming bigger and bigger, tickets sales are at an all time high with more and more people coming from across the country each year.
The festival is gaining national recognition by the year and bringing more and more people into the area each year which is fantastic for the local economy. We are now in our fifth year and over that time we have developed a trusted team of staff and volunteers that help make
Tribfest what it is today.
