Bee a Hero at Beverley Maze with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust

Popular East Riding attraction Beverley Maze is continuing its ‘Bee a Hero’ theme with an interactive visit from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust on Monday 15th August.

Farmer John Clappison chose the bee shaped design for this year’s maze to draw people’s attention to the importance of the honey bee food and farming and in addition to the maize plants that form the maze, he planted over 5000 sunflowers, two miles of hedgerows and pollen and nectar mixes to attract and provide habitats for beneficial insects and wildlife.

Representatives from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust will be on hand all day to give information about bees, including what you can plant in your garden to attract them, and will run butterfly and bee mask making and wild flower seed planting sessions.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy the maze with fun quiz trail and look-out towers, plus go-karts, trampoline, mini digger, bouncy slide and coin operated quad bikes.  Refreshments and ice cream will also be available.

Beverley Maze is open between 10am and 5.30pm and admission costs £6.00 per adult and £5.00 for children 3-15 and senior citizens.  Under 3’s and wheelchair users are free and a family ticket costs £20.00.  For more information, visit www.beverleymaze.com or call 07550012197.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is part of the influential UK-wide partnership of 47 Wildlife Trusts. The Trust has worked for more than 60 years to protect wildlife and its work is helping to secure the future of many important habitats and species, which might otherwise be lost.
