A-level students at East Riding College are celebrating after they all found out they passed their course today, with many achieving the highest grades possible.
Those taking courses at AS and A2-level included some doing so as a standalone part-time course but most did so in addition to their full-time vocational course, such as a BTEC national diploma.
Success stories included students who got A grade A-levels alongside a triple distinction in their vocational course. A triple distinction in a BTEC national diploma is the equivalent to three A2-levels at A grade.
Lesley Kelly, head of A-levels at the College, said: “These excellent results are testament to the hard work of students and staff, and come at the end of an impressive year for the College.
“Many of these students had chosen to study A-levels in addition to a demanding full-time vocational course and their reward is now a compelling application to university or a very strong CV if they choose to go into work.
“My congratulations go to everyone concerned. Well done!”
East Riding College has been expanding its A-level offer over recent years and from September is offering them in 13 subjects.
As well as the opportunity to study one or two A-levels in addition to a full-time vocational course, students at Bridlington can take up a full-time A-level package, choosing up to four subjects.
The 100 per cent pass rate for this year’s A-levels caps an excellent year for the College in which it received a rating of good with outstanding features by Ofsted in March and was then one of a handful of colleges to earn Beacon College status in June.
In the previous academic year, 42 per cent of students on level three courses went on to higher education, 38 per cent went into work and a further 16 per cent went on to other study.
