The East Yorkshire Wolds are one of England’s best kept secrets and are often overlooked by more famous areas of Yorkshire, such as the Moors and the Dales.
The rolling hills have remained unspoilt for years and are a quality that makes them such a wonderful place in which to be.
Now, The East Riding Archives and Local Studies Service, at the Beverley Treasure House in Beverley, is offering the opportunity to appreciate the local countryside and find out more about the places where we live.
Over the past 20 years, local film makers have documented the region in great detail, and on Tuesday, 23 August, people will have the chance to watch a video presentation comprising footage and commentary from these local films. The video tour travels across the countryside and takes in numerous villages that nestle among the hills.
Sam Bartle, collections officer, said: “I grew up on the East Yorkshire Wolds, but this video presentation taught me all sorts of facts about villages that I thought I knew well.”
The video tour also makes brief stops at local events, such as the Kiplingcotes Derby and the Driffield Coin Scramble, and looks at one or two local crafts in the area, which you may not have been aware of.
The video presentation will take place at 6:30pm, in the Treasure House Education Room. Tickets are £3 and booking is essential as places are limited.
