Rangers Draw With St Andrews

St Andrews got off to the worst possible start going one nil down after conceding a penalty in the first few minutes of their opening game of the Humber Premier League (HPL) season.

As the game settled down St Andrews grow in confidence and drew level half way through the first half and continued to play the better football but couldn’t find the finishing touch in front of goal.

The second half continued to be a tight affair with both teams going close to taking the lead and just as in the first half; Hall Road Rangers gained the advantage with a well worked goal. St Andrews never gave up and kept the pressure on the home side.

That pressure paid off as Hall Road Rangers defender cleared the ball with the use of his hand in the six yard box to give St Andrews a life line to draw level.

There was no mistake from the penalty taker who kept his nerve to fire St Andrews level.

This was a fair result for both teams.

Next up for St Andrews is a home tie against Sculcoates Amatures.
