MP Praises Beverley and Holderness’s Finest Examples Of Manufacturing Excellence

Graham Stuart MP has nominated Bartoline Limited of Beverley as an example of manufacturing excellence in his constituency for Made in Britain, a project set up to celebrate the best of British manufacturing.

Made in Britain has been set up by the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, and each MP was asked to nominate a company or a product that is manufactured in their constituency today.

Bartoline Limited, a privately owned company trading in Beverley since 1876, is renowned as one of the leaders in the field of manufacturing and packing solvents, fillers, adhesives and wood treatments.

Graham said: “Bartoline embodies the British spirit of resilience and entrepreneurship. In 2003, the factory burned down and, without having to make a single redundancy, the firm managed to get back up and running within weeks.”

The DIY sundries supplier also brings innovative new products to the market within their range, including a new, shortly to be released environmentally-friendly water-based alternative to white spirit called CLEAN SPIRIT.

Other local manufacturing companies commended to Graham include the Beverley-based Ford Framing, a family-run business that places service as a key element of their local popularity; Cranswick Country Foods, which supplies national brands such as Red Lion Foods,Weight Watchers and Jamie Oliver; Fisher Engineering, which designs and builds the equipment for kitchens to store, chill and process meat, and The Withernsea Lobster, which is one of the finest lobsters in the world.

Each MP’s nomination will feature in the APMG’s Made in Britain showcase in September to commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Great Exhibition. The project has been partially funded by Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851.

Graham added:

“We are still a great manufacturing nation and too often forget just how many successful and innovative businesses we have around us. I’m delighted to have had so many businesses recommended by local residents and hope that highlighting our local success stories can motivate more young people to enter a career in making and producing things. The Associate Parliamentary Group is doing a great job in celebrating Britain’s continuing excellence in manufacturing, enterprise and innovation.”
