One Giant Leap For Broadband And The Residents Of Woodmansey

Woodmansey residents offered the opportunity to be amongst the first people in Hull and East Yorkshire to get super fast fibre optic broadband from KC

From 1 September local communications provider KC, will be offering Woodmansey residents the chance to take part in a fibre trial for six months, and be amongst the first homes in Hull and East Yorkshire to get super fast fibre optic broadband with speeds of up to 100Mbps.

Current Karoo customers will be upgraded to the top fibre package available for their home, whether through Fibre to the Home or Fibre to the Kerb, with unlimited downloads. During the six month trial they’ll pay no more than they do today, with no change to existing contracts. In return they’ll need to report back to KC to tell them about their experience during the trial.

With speeds of up to 100Mbps, more than twice as fast as BT’s Infinity fibre service which is available in parts of the UK, KC’s super fast fibre optic broadband will allow customers to download an entire music album in less than two seconds, an hour-long television show in just 31 seconds and a full high-definition movie in one to two minutes.

Since KC announced its plans for fibre in July, engineers have been busy installing fibre optic cables in Woodmansey ready for the trial and expect to have the first household connected by the end of September.

KC’s Director of Consumer Services, Nick Thompson, said “We’re really keen to get people to sign up to the trial and start experiencing breathtaking speeds many times faster than current services. In preparation for the trial we’ve been testing the different technologies we’ll be using. The online experience we’ve encountered was amazing – for example at100Mbps Apple apps downloaded in under a second.”

From next Tuesday, 6 September, KC’s fibre team will be hitting the streets and going door-to-door in Woodmansey to tell people all about the fibre optic broadband service and offering them the chance to take part in the trial. KC is also holding a space-themed family launch event at The Warton Arms Pub in Woodmansey on Saturday 10th September from 11:00am to 4:00pm. There’ll be lots for the family to enjoy, including space hopper racing, a human gyroscope and real space food. People will also get the chance to see and experience for themselves how fibre will transform their home.

Woodmansey residents who aren’t KC broadband customers can also take part in the fibre trial by signing up for a KC Home Bundle, from £29.99 per month.

Woodmansey residents will all receive an information pack to their homes. To find out more or register for the trial people can call KC’s fibre team on 01482 604911 or visit www.kc.co.uk/fibre.
