At 8.00am on Saturday 17 September 2011, staff from the Tesco Beverley store will challenge members of the Defence School of Transport to a 12 hour Cyclothon.
All funds raised on the day will be split between the 2 teams, Tesco is raising money on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society, their chosen charity of the year.
The Defence School of Transport (DST) the worlds largest residential driver training school will be competing on behalf of 4 service charities, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, RAF Benevolent Fund, Gurkha Welfare Trust and Combat Stress.
David Ryley Tesco Community Champion said;
“We have a large group of volunteers who are not only looking forward to taking part in this challenge as a physical contest but are delighted that there will be a beneficial spin off in that funds will be raised for worthy charities.”
Flight Sergeant Stuart Whiteman from DST said;
“our personnel are really excited about this challenge. Servicemen and Women from the Army, RAF, Royal Marines and Gurkha Troop are all happily giving up their spare time for this worthwhile challenge.”
