Local MP Graham Stuart has met with manufacturers in his constituency.
Graham Stuart first visited Bartoline, a leading solvent manufacturer in the UK which suffered a major fire in their Beverley factory in 2003.
Bartoline has been nominated by Graham Stuart for the ‘Made in Britain’ campaign, set up to celebrate the best of British manufacturing.
Graham went on to visit Hodgson Sealants Limited and was met by Charles Hodgson who now runs the family business.
The Hodgson name is well known locally and this same family, in 1812, set up the Hodgson Tannery in Flemingate where skins from local livestock were sent.
These visits to local manufacturers were arranged by Steve Gregory, the regional manager for the Manufacturing Advisory Service.
Graham met with the staff on the factory floor in both Bartoline and Hodgson Sealants and turned his hand to working on the factory line filling buckets with tile adhesive; it was a shaky start!
