Beverley Parks Apple Fest 2011

Members of the public are invited to attend a free festival to celebrate apples at Beverley Parks Local Nature Reserve.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Apple Fest will appeal to all ages and will be held on Sunday 23rd October 2011 at the Millennium Orchard, Beverley Parks from 11 am to 3 pm.

The event has been organised and funded by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Countryside Access Team and the East Yorkshire Federation of Women’s Institutes.

Amongst the activities planned for the Apple Fest are Falconry displays, chainsaw carving, environmental art, face painting, charcoal burning and marquees packed with countryside activities and information.

The Women’s Institutes will be providing a multitude of apple related sweets and savouries to taste, whilst the Northern Fruit Group will be on hand to identify apple varieties – please bring 3 typical examples.

James Taylor, Countryside Access Officer for the East Riding of Yorkshire Council said “The Apple Fest at Beverley Parks is a wonderful opportunity to find out about preserving apples varieties, traditional landscapes and crafts. With a wide range of activities for all the family set in one of East Riding’s most fascinating nature reserves, this really will be a great way to spend a Sunday. And it’s free too!”

To attend the Apple Fest, simply turn up to the Millennium Orchard between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Entry is free, but a £1 per car parking donation is appreciated as this helps towards funding the event.
