Beverley Lions Bonfire: Traffic Management

East Riding of Yorkshire Council would like to remind residents and visitors to Beverley that a traffic management plan will be in place on Saturday, 5 November for the Beverley Lions Bonfire at the Westwood.

The plan will involve part closures of Keldgate Road, Westwood Road and Walkington Road, which will inevitably reduce the availability of parking close to the bonfire site.

People attending the bonfire are therefore advised to use the car parks in the town centre, which are all free after 6 pm, and walk to the site in order to help reduce traffic congestion.

Walkington Road and Westwood Road will be closed to eastbound traffic into Beverley, from the Keldgate Road Junction, opposite the golf club entrance, to Albert Terrace, from 6-7.30pm. At 7.30pm Walkington Road and Westwood Road will be closed in both directions until 9.30pm.

Cartwright Lane and Keldgate Road will be closed to westbound traffic, from 6-9.30pm, between Thurstan Road and Sloe Lane crossroads and the junction with Walkington Road, opposite the golf club entrance.

Limited parking will be available along the southern verge of Keldgate Road, between the golf club entrance and the top end of Cartwright Lane.

Also limited parking will be available along both sides of Walkington Road, north of the gate house to the junction opposite the golf club entrance. Because of the closures Walkington Road can only be accessed up to 7.30pm from the junction with Albert Terrace.

Because of the limited parking available and congestion caused in previous years, visitors are advised to avoid parking along Newbald Road.

The council apologises for any inconvenience caused but these measures are necessary to maintain public safety.

Please note that, as ever, anyone wishing to park their vehicles along the highways or verges around the Westwood does so entirely at their own risk.

The lighting of the bonfire takes place at 7.15pm and the fireworks display at 7.45pm.
