United Remain Second Thanks To Home Win Over Rangers

Mill Lane United consolidated their grip on second place in the league table with an emphatic win over Cottingham Rangers.

Superb passing skills throughout the game saw Connie Forward released time and again into the opponents last quarter to slot in three goals overall in the first fifteen minutes of the match.

Excellent running and ball skills by captain Hope Barrett dominated the mid field along with Chloe Davison one of which resulted a pin-point pass for Isobel Gillyon to secure a further goal allowing Mill lane to go in 4 – 0 at the break.

In the second half Cottingham rallied well breaking down what had been a superb defence by Mill Lane led by Millie Gray and Ellie McMillan and Isabelle Dodds in the second half. Fantastic goalkeeping by Chloe Hakeney soaked up the pressure but the visitors secured two well taken goals to pull back the score to 4 -2.

However Mill Lane never let their spirits drop and tighter defending by Gray and McMillan and great running back to support by Barrett helped release the fresh attacking legs of both Rebecca Long and Alex Clark where a great lay off by Barrett to Long who then powered an excellent pass for Clark to seal the match with a well taken goal to take the score to 5 -2.

Player of the match went to Millie Gray.
