Conditions were perfect for running last Sunday when more than 200 local athletes celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Haltemprice 10k.
Beverley Athletic Club fielded a reduced squad as the race coincided with the 10k at Scarborough but they were rewarded with several veteran’s prizes and new personal bests.
Mark Dalton was the first Beverley runner to finish. He was eighth overall and won second prize in the V50 age group.
The first Beverley lady to finish was Sam Allen.
She was thrilled to record a new personal best time of 44:21.
“I can’t believe it,” she said afterwards “I never thought I could run under 46 minutes and now I’ve gone under 45! It makes all the training worthwhile.”
She also won first prize in the LV40 age category.
Two weeks after setting a new PB in the Amsterdam Half-Marathon Miranda Hunt also broke her record for 10k. She covered the course at
Haltemprice in 48:53, beating 49 minutes for the first time and finishing 3rd in the LV35 category.
