Newcomers to Orienteering are again invited to try out the sport.
Following the successful event on Beverley Westwood in October, HALO, the orienteering club for Humberside and Lincolnshire are holding another event to attract newcomers, this time at Hull University. The event will be held on Saturday November 19th from 1pm to 3pm.
Registration will take place in the University’s Sports Centre on Inglemire Lane. This event will also be suitable for the more experienced Orienteers.
The urban setting of the University provides a good contrast to the open spaces of Beverley Westwood, here the skills revolve around good decision making and selecting the fastest route around the intricate network of paths, open spaces and buildings. A variety of different courses have been planned to cater for beginners through to experienced Orienteers.
There will be one more newcomer’s event in 2011, at the Humber Bridge Country Park on Saturday December 17th (1pm to 3pm). There will be also be a series of events in 2012, full details can be found on the HALO web-site (www.halo-orienteering.org.uk) . Further information is also available by emailing neil@halo-orienteering.org.uk
HALO also runs a weekly club night at Beverley Longcroft School on Mondays (6:30pm to 8:00pm) during term-time. New members always welcome. (Details available from email and web-site contacts as above).
